Stop the Bleed seeks to empower every citizen with the knowledge and tools to stop life-threatening bleeding and save lives.
The top cause of preventable death in trauma is bleeding. 20% of people who have died from traumatic injuries could have survived with quick bleeding control.
Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and a call to action. Launched by the White House in October 2015, Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Bystanders will always be first on the scene of an emergency and a person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes; it is crucial for citizens to know how to quickly and effectively stop blood loss.
National Stop The Bleed Day brings Bleeding Control (B-CON) Instructors and students together for a nationwide day of training, completely free of charge.
Already have plans for March 31st? No problem – Stop the Bleed classes take place year-round in cities across the United States.
