Tricol’s HemCon brand of products has been a long-standing pioneer in battlefield hemostasis.

For over 15 years the HemCon brand has been synonymous with lifesaving technologies on the battlefield.

The story begins in 2001, when HemCon partnered with the U.S. Army to design a hemostatic dressing that would save the lives of soldiers who suffered traumatic injuries that resulted in hemorrhaging on the battlefield, far from medical care that could save them. Our brave soldiers needed a quick solution to stop bleeding and allow for transport to critical care units. The HemCon®Bandage was born from need.

Based on field requirements for a more flexible and easy to use hemostatic dressing, HemCon introduced a next generation hemostatic device: ChitoGauze®. This uniquely fabricated chitosan impregnated gauze dressing offers fast and reliable hemostasis, provides flexibility at the point of care and continues delivering the best possible patient care when it is most needed.

Over 500-thousand HemCon products have been shipped all over the world to US, NATO and other allied forces to help soldiers control bleeding during military operations with no adverse effects reported to date. HemCon products are credited with continuing to save lives on the battlefield and are a top choice hemorrhage control dressing for the Armed Forces worldwide and recommended by the U.S. Tactical Committee on Combat Casualty Care as one of the hemostats of choice on the battlefield.
